Job Description
Remote is seeking an experienced VMware Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the delivery and maintenance of secure, scalable, and resilient on-premise infrastructure solutions in ASD. The role involves administering, troubleshooting, and optimising systems to meet organisational objectives, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. The VMware SME will contribute to the design and implementation of solutions that enable strategic technology outcomes, with a focus on automation, efficiency, and continuous improvement. (LH-05347)
Role Description
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver, administer, and maintain on-premise platforms.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and system issues.
- Monitor system performance, security events, and capacity.
- Implement automation for routine administration tasks.
- Plan and execute infrastructure updates and maintenance.
- Ensure operational documentation and procedures are current.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve platform capabilities.
Technical skills
- Expertise in VMware technologies, including administration, troubleshooting, and optimisation of virtualised environments
- Strong knowledge of on-premise infrastructure solutions
- Proficiency in automation tools and scripting for system administration and deployment tasks
- Experience in monitoring, performance tuning, and security event management across complex systems
- Understanding of risk management, security compliance, and best practices.
Essential criteria
- 5–10 years’ experience in VMware and related infrastructure technologies.
- Strong technical expertise in on-premise environments.
- Proven ability to manage complex systems
Desirable criteria
- Experience with automation tools and scripting.
- Familiarity with risk management and security best practices.
