Job Description

Remote is seeking a Senior Storage Administrator to join the team in ASD. The Storage Administrator will produce designs, design patterns, configurations, and documentation in accordance with industry standards for storage and backup systems to meet organisational requirements. They will deploy SAN infrastructure, storage arrays and backup deployments with appropriate configuration and perform regular maintenance, monitoring, and administration functions for the respective systems. Role Description

The Storage Administrator will be responsible for the development of technology solutions and mapping the business requirements to systems/technical requirements to ensure they are in line with the enterprise architectural plan. The Storage Administrator will contribute to the protection of ASD systems and information, meet domestic and international policies and standards, and mitigate risks.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produce designs, design patterns, configurations, and documentation in accordance with industry standards for storage and backup system.
  • Perform deployments, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and administration functions for storage arrays, associated SAN and enterprise backup systems.
  • Implement SAN infrastructure/architecture (FC HBA's, fabrics, SAN's, etc.) and Cisco MDS SAN switches.
  • Deploy configure and manage enterprise storage arrays.
  • Troubleshoot and restore storage systems after failures and issues.
  • As required, undertake any other tasks as requested by the technical team.

Technical Skills Required:

  • A strong understanding of storage technologies, SAN and NAS and protocols such as iSCSI, FC and FCoE.
  • Background and demonstrated ability managing storage infrastructure, SAN infrastructure and backup infrastructure.
  • Understanding of data replication technologies and schemas.
  • Holds an understanding of programming languages.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of analytics software.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience implementing and administrating Hitachi Vantara and Pure Storage storage systems, Commvault backup systems, and Cisco MDS SAN switching.

Essential criteria

  • STMG 5 Manages the storage and backup systems to provide agreed service levels. Responsible for creating, improving, and supporting quality IT services with optimal utilisation of storage resources, ensuring data security, availability and integrity of business data. Drafts standards, procedures and guidelines for implementing data protection and disaster recovery functionality for all business applications and business data using different online and offline storage devices.
  • ITOP 4 Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures. Uses storage management tools to determine network load and performance statistics. Contributes to the planning and implementation of maintenance and installation work, including building and management of systems and components in virtualised computing environments. Implements agreed storage charges and maintenance managed in accordance with agreed standards and procedures. Provides reports and proposals for improvement, to specialists, users and managers.
  • USUP 5 Ensures that incidents are handled according to agreed procedures. Investigates escalated incidents to responsible service owners and seeks resolution. Facilitates recovery, following resolution of incidents. Ensures that resolved incidents are properly documented and closed. Analyses cause of incidents, and inform service owners in order to minimise probability of recurrence, and contribute to service improvement. Analyses metrics and reports on performance of incident management process.
