Job Description
Remote is seeking Network Security Engineers to join the team at ASD. The Network Security Engineers will plan, implement and operate network service/systems, to include hardware and virtual environments. They will test and maintain network infrastructure including software and hardware devices, provide feedback on network requirements, including network architecture and infrastructure. They will assess complex information systems utilising a range of contemporary security frameworks, toolsets, and knowledge of malicious actor techniques, tools and processes. The Network Security Engineer role will assess critical infrastructure systems in a collaborative team environment and contribute to specific advice on hardening and defending systems against advanced threats (LH-03911)
Role Description
Key duties and responsibilities
- Assess a wide range of network systems and configurations for cyber security issues
- Conduct workshops, run assessment tooling and view system documentation and configurations
- Provide detailed recommendations and advice to improve the cyber security of a network.
Technical skills
- Skills in computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies
- Skills in communication methods, principles, and concepts that support the network infrastructure
- Skills in Information Technology (IT) security principles and methods (e.g. firewalls, demilitarised zones, encryption)
- Skills in Network security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g. application of defense-in-depth)
Essential criteria
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Cyber role, demonstrating skills in: • computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies • communication methods, principle, and concepts that support the network infrastructure • Information Technology security principles and methods (e.g. firewalls, demilitarised zones, encryption) • Network Security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g. application of defense-in-depth)
- Ability to implement, maintain and improve established network practices.
- Ability to configure and utilise computer protection components (e.g. hardware firewalls, servers, routers) as appropriate.
- Experience in using network management tools to analyse network traffic patterns and interpreting the information collected.
- Experience in securing network communications.
- Communicate with a broad range of stakeholders (Technical and non-technical), including conducting workshops to highlight security issues and their associated fixes.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in operating and securing networks with Operational Technology is highly desirable.
