Job Description
Remote is seeking experienced Infrastructure Engineers (System Administrator) to join the team in Australian Signals Directorate (ASD). The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for implementing, operating, and improving the infrastructure that underpins digital services, including physical, virtual, networking, and cloud environments. The role manages allocated work, sets priorities, and coordinates workflows to support infrastructure uplift and installation activities, ensuring delivery meets agreed timeframes, quality standards, and stakeholder expectations. It contributes to continuous improvement by applying change management and problem-solving skills to resolve issues, maintain service continuity, and strengthen systems administration practices. Role Description
Key duties and responsibilities
Include but not limited to:
- Accountable for managing allocated resources, setting work priorities and managing workflows to ensure accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements.
- Accountable for installation projects, providing effective team leadership and ensuring effective stakeholder engagement during project work.
- Lead the development and implementation of policies and strategies and the evaluation of business outcomes to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of ICT systems administration.
- Maintain and apply knowledge, experience and skills to meet capability needs, utilising hardware and software products relevant to systems administration, current functionality and Defence's business domain.
- Use experience in change management, customer service and conflict resolution to maintain the continuity of capability delivery, ICT operation and business functions.
- Work collaboratively with the team to develop and implement solutions and goal of a non-routine or contingency nature.
- Solve issues for a defined range of unpredictable problems following established operating policies and procedures.
- Evaluation project to understand critical factors for success and engage activities or technical specialists to achieve continuous improvement.
Technical skills
- Diploma or Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or related fields.
- Proficient in operating systems, networking, database management and security protocols.
Essential criteria
- Demonstrated experience with the design, installation and de-installation of large and/or complex systems.
- Demonstrated experience in the analysis and reporting of service and component availability, reliability, maintainability and serviceability. This includes analysis against agreed performance targets and service levels.
- Demonstrated experience in the creation and/or maintenance of issue resolution/disaster recovery plans and the testing of said plans.
- Demonstrated experience in problem root cause analysis and the ability to initiate appropriate mitigation/resolution strategies.
