Job Description

Remote is seeking experienced AWS Cloud Engineers to join the team at ASD to design, deliver and optimise secure, scalable and cost-effective cloud solutions across enterprise environments. The role supports cloud transformation initiatives, modernisation of existing systems and the adoption of best-practice cloud architectures. The AWS Cloud Engineers will work closely with business areas to ensure strategic alignment, enable automation and uplift cloud capability, while maintaining strong security, elasticity and operational efficiency in a rapidly evolving environment. Role Description

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Design and implement AWS cloud architectures that meet security, scalability, and operational requirements.
  • Lead cloud migration and modernisation projects, including rationalisation of legacy systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align cloud solutions with organisational objectives.
  • Deploy automation and monitoring tools to ensure resilient and repeatable outcomes.
  • Promote cloud best practices and provide knowledge transfer to uplift internal capability.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, cost optimisation, and simplification of cloud services.
  • Support lifecycle management of systems and software within cloud environments. 

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in AWS services (compute, storage, networking, security).
  • Experience with cloud architecture design, migration strategies, and automation frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Knowledge of cloud security principles, compliance, and governance.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimise cloud performance and cost eff

Essential criteria

  • At least 5-10 years’ experience developing and delivering AWS solutions for complex projects.
  • Strong technical skills across a number of ICT disciplines.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Desirable criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Experience managing complex project.
