Job Description

ASD is seeking EOIs from experienced Project Managers and Project Support Officers to support the delivery of complex ICT projects and initiatives.

These projects and initiatives are delivering significant uplift to ASD’s intelligence, cyber, and enabling capabilities. The Project Officers will play a critical role in planning, coordinating, and delivering ICT projects that support mission‑critical operations in highly secure, complex, and fast‑moving environments.

Project Officers will be required to operate with limited direction, apply disciplined governance, and work closely with technical, operational, and executive stakeholders to ensure capability outcomes are delivered safely, securely, and in alignment with ASD’s strategic objectives. (RFI-01062023)

Role Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of ICT projects from initiation through to closure, including scope definition, planning, execution, and transition to operations.
  • Develop and maintain project management artefacts such as project plans, schedules, risk and issue registers, financial tracking, and status reporting.
  • Manage project resources, work packages, dependencies, and delivery partners to ensure timely and effective outcomes.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, escalating as appropriate and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including technical teams, business owners, and senior executives.
  • Provide clear, accurate, and timely reporting on project progress, risks, and outcomes.
  • Ensure projects align with ASD governance frameworks, security requirements, and organisational priorities.
  • Support change management and implementation activities to ensure successful adoption of delivered capabilities.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience delivering complex ICT projects within a classified environment.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and governance frameworks (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent)
  • The ability to break down complex initiatives into structured, manageable work packages
  • Well‑developed problem‑solving, negotiation, and decision‑making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive‑level reporting
  • Experience managing competing priorities and operating effectively in dynamic environments

Additional information:

  • This EOI will assist ASD in planning future contractor engagements required to support planned capability delivery activities in 2026.
  • All roles are based in Canberra.
  • There may be a requirement for interstate travel.
