Senior Storage Infrastructure Engineer (PROJ-4672)
Job Description
Remote is seeking a Senior Storage Engineer to join the Department of Industry, Science and Resources within the ICT Networks & Infrastructure Platforms team (ICT Operations Branch), supporting the delivery of stable and secure ICT services across the department and Ministers’ Offices. Working in a large and complex ICT environment, the role will be responsible for deploying, configuring, managing and tuning enterprise storage systems and SAN infrastructure across physical and virtual layers, while also contributing to technical design, documentation, operational handover, knowledge sharing, and the mentoring of junior team members. Role Description
Key duties
The role is responsible for ensuring storage services are secure, reliable and fit for purpose, while also contributing to documentation, operational continuity and the uplift of team capability. Key duties may include:
- Deploy, configure, administer and tune enterprise storage platforms across physical and virtual environments.
- Manage and support Storage Area Network infrastructure, including switches and connectivity across the storage environment.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve storage and backup related issues to maintain system performance, availability and resilience.
- Support backup, restore and recovery capabilities, including technologies such as Veeam Backup and Replication and Dell Data Domain.
- Produce and maintain design documents, build documents, operational procedures and handover material.
- Contribute to the evaluation and adoption of new and emerging technologies to inform the future direction of storage and data platforms.
- Work collaboratively with other technical teams and stakeholders to support infrastructure operations and project delivery.
- Share knowledge with team members and provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff.
- Participate in after-hours on-call support as required.
Essential criteria
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the design, administration, tuning and troubleshooting of one or more of the following storage systems:
- HPE 3PAR, Primera, Alletra Storage Systems
- NetApp E-Series
- Dell Data Domain
- Brocade Fabric Switches
- SANnav
- Scality Artesca
- Ability to produce design, build and operations documents for processes and procedures.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills to work with skilled technical people, including making presentations to staff and stakeholders and coaching staff.
- Experience / Knowledge of Veeam Backup and Replication
