Job Description

Remote is seeking a Junior Infrastructure Engineer to join the team in ASD. The Junior Infrastructure Engineer will assist with the establishment, maintenance and support of network infrastructure, including LAN and WAN environments.

Working under limited supervision, the role will support troubleshooting activities, assist with monitoring and improving network performance, and contribute to the installation and configuration of systems and network infrastructure. The Junior Infrastructure Engineer will work as part of a technical team to support reliable network operations and the sustainment of existing and new network environments. ( LH-06946)

Role Description

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Assist in establishing new networks and the maintenance of existing networks. 
  • Conduct troubleshooting activities under limited supervision. 
  • Assist in monitoring and improving network performance
  • Install and configure systems and network infrastructure including LAN and WAN.

Essential criteria

  • IT infrastructure: Level 3 (SFIA)

Provisions/installs, configures and maintains infrastructure services and components. Monitors, measures and reports on infrastructure load, performance and security events. Identifies operational issues and contributes to their resolution. Carries out agreed operational procedures, including backup/restore, using supplied infrastructure tools and scripts. Carries out agreed system software maintenance tasks. Automates routine system administration tasks to specifications using standard tools and basic scripting.

  • Systems installation and removal: Level 3 (SFIA)

Installs or removes hardware and/or software, using supplied installation instructions and tools, including handover to the client. Uses standard procedures and diagnostic tools to test installations, correct problems, and document results. Records details of all components that have been installed and removed. Assists users and follows agreed procedures for further help or escalation. Contributes to the development of installation procedures and standards.
