Job Description

Remote is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to join the team at AGO. The role will be responsible for working under limited direction as a member of a team responsible for developing advanced analytics, tools and techniques to exploit AGO’s data holdings in support of business requirements. The role will involve the design, coordination, development and integration of advanced analytic solutions. The program of work has multiple projects which range in size. The successful candidate may be required to work across one or more of these projects. ( LH-06989)

Role Description

AGO require one highly skilled Data Scientist with experience developing and delivering AI/ML and advanced analytic solutions to exploit AGO’s data holdings in support of business requirements. The role will need to be current with emerging data-science and machine-learning technologies, including the necessary skills to develop computer vision models for a range of targets and imagery types.

Tasks include:

  • Evaluation of the need for analytics, assessment of the problems to be solved, and what internal or external data sources to use or acquire
  • Specification and application of appropriate mathematical, statistical, predictive modelling or machine–learning techniques to analyse data, generate insights, create value and support decision-making. Manage the review of the benefits and value of analytics techniques and tools, and recommend improvements.
  • Undertake technical responsibility across all stages and iterations of analytic development, including the planning, delivery and communication of analytic methods, tools and techniques.
  • Contribute to and support leadership efforts to improve data science processes and techniques.
  • Contribute to the development of solution architectures in data analysis and exploitation. Identify and evaluate alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance and scalability.
  • Identify system interdependencies and liaise with other system stakeholders to resolve conflict and coordinate integrated solutions.
  • Document technical processes and write documentation in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Establish and foster productive working relationships by working cohesively and flexibly with the broader project team, key business partners and stakeholder groups.

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience in designing, coordinating, developing and integrating sophisticated analytic solutions
  • Extensive experience in data analysis, strong capability in architecting and developing analytic solutions, and a proven ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team of technical and non-technical personnel
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills to communicate results using appropriate methods to a range of audiences
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the application and integration of machine learning approaches
  • Demonstrated knowledge of geospatial analysis (desirable).
